One job offer from messaging the right person

When Nayl started his job search, he was facing more than just a competitive market - he was starting from zero.

He didn't know how recruitment worked. He didn't realise LinkedIn was important. He was pouring energy into perfecting cover letters without knowing if they even mattered.

"The biggest challenge for me was not knowing anything about the recruitment process. You can't play the game if you don't know the rules."

So he invested in learning them - fast.

A Strategic Shift

Nayl took the full TechTalk package because he wanted results quickly. What he didn't expect was how much the process would shift his mindset alongside his strategy.

"You really gave me hope and confidence in myself after the call. I knew that I had a chance - I just had a lot of insecurities, especially about whether I was competent enough."

Once his CV and LinkedIn were optimised, things started moving. Recruiters began reaching out daily, and for the first time, the job search felt real.

"A big milestone for me was when I had everything optimised and I started receiving messages every day from recruiters. At that moment I knew — I might actually get a job."

The Hidden Job Market & Networking

But the real game changer was a single conversation with someone inside his target company.

Nayl reached out to a peer, spent an hour with them, and used that connection to find and contact the hiring manager directly - introducing himself as a referral and pitching clearly why he was the right fit.

That same peer ended up in his interview. And when it mattered most, they defended him in the room.

"The first person I contacted is what made me land the job I'm in today. I sent an email directly to the manager, introduced myself as a referral - she opened her LinkedIn, saw my message, and said: let's give it a try."

Landing the Role

Nayl landed a role at a massive company - not by spraying applications and hoping for the best, but by understanding the system and working it with intention.

"It's really the small wins. When you're young, you feel like getting a job is pretty much impossible and you don't know where to start. Building confidence step by step, and having someone tell you - yeah, you can do it - that leads to something."

From feeling incompetent to landing at a major firm, Nayl's story is proof that once you know the rules of the game, you can win it.
