Louis knew he had something unique to offer – a non-traditional background, entrepreneurial experience, and a clear vision of where he wanted to go. But turning that into a compelling candidate profile wasn’t always easy.
“My background’s quite unique. I’ve done my own thing, and it’s hard to quantify that on a CV – especially when recruiters only spend a few seconds looking.”
He was getting interviews, especially in the tech space – but wasn’t making it through to offers.
“I thought, if I’m getting interviews, my CV isn’t the issue. But I kept missing out – probably to someone who was just presenting themselves better than I was.”
Finding the Inside Edge

“It all started with me reaching out. I didn’t even apply through the official route. By Thursday, I had an offer.”

Within a single week, Louis received three job offers. One of them? A company he had identified two years earlier as his dream employer.
“It was a full-circle moment. I’d shortlisted that company two years ago, and now I’m joining them. It all came from knowing what I wanted – and having a plan of action.”
Another role came through his network, reinforcing the power of strategy, patience, and human connection.
“There’s a lot you can do to go from cold application to interview. You’ve got to be patient, and celebrate the small wins along the way.”
