Frequently Asked Questions
How can a career coach help me land a software engineering role?

A career coach can shorten your job search by helping you build a software engineering-focused CV, optimise your LinkedIn for recruiter searches, and create a step-by-step application strategy. We also provide tailored interview coaching for software engineering roles, so you walk in confident and prepared to showcase your value to hiring managers.

Which coaching program is the best for me?

The Starter Program is perfect if you're looking to land interviews quickly and you feel confident in preparing for interviews on your own. It focuses on strengthening your CV, LinkedIn, and application strategy. The Ultimate Program takes it further, preparing you to not only secure interviews but also to get the job offer - so everything from personalised interview coaching and extensive 6-month support.

Who leads the coaching programs?

Our co-founders, Joana and Roxanne, lead the strategy calls, offering personalised advice and guidance. From there, our experienced career consultant - each with an HR or recruiting background - handle the reviews. These consultants go through a rigorous selection process to ensure they provide top-tier support.

How long is the 1:1 session?

Each 1:1 coaching session typically lasts about 1 hour. Depending on your needs, it may go a few minutes over. It’s your time, so we make sure we cover everything thoroughly.

Can I get support after the program?

Yes! Support doesn’t end with the coaching sessions. Ongoing support is available to all our clients, with the duration depending on the program you choose. We're committed to your long-term success, offering guidance when you need it most.

Do I need to have previous experience in software engineering?

No experience is required! Whether you're a graduate just starting out or a senior executive looking to level up, our programs are tailored to your specific career stage and goals.

What are the different types of jobs available in software engineering?

Software engineering covers a wide range of roles, depending on your interests and skillset. Some of the most common include:

  • Frontend Engineer – Focused on building user interfaces and the parts of applications that customers interact with (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, etc.).
  • Backend Engineer – Works on the server side, building APIs, databases, and systems that power applications (Java, Python, Node.js, SQL, etc.).
  • Full-Stack Engineer – Combines both frontend and backend skills to build entire applications end to end.
  • DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Focuses on infrastructure, automation, cloud systems, and keeping applications stable and scalable.
  • QA / Test Automation Engineer – Ensures software quality through testing, debugging, and building automated test systems.
  • Mobile Engineer – Specialises in creating mobile apps for iOS or Android.
  • Security Engineer – Builds secure systems, identifies vulnerabilities, and protects applications from threats.
  • Data / Machine Learning Engineer

In our program, we help you explore these different paths, match them to your strengths, and position yourself to land the right role.

What skills do I need to succeed in software engineering?

The core skills for success in software engineering include problem-solving, logical thinking, and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork are just as important, since most engineers work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or JavaScript, and familiarity with version control tools such as Git, are essential. An understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and concepts like testing, debugging, and system design will also give you an edge. In our program, we help you showcase these skills on your CV and LinkedIn, and demonstrate them effectively in interviews.
